Life Is Beautiful Down By The sea, what can I say about that, it just is isn't it? It's just beautiful down by the sea, it's good and sweet, and just right, and you feel, and things feel possible. This painting is a part of a long series of tiny little cottages I have made up in my mind, imagining my own little cottage that someday I might have, i like the little sense that someone has just stepped out of the picture here, left their shoes tucked under the rocking chair, and have a little pitcher and glass to the side, you can see inside their house a little bit, things going on in there, a bird house, the roses, the pathway to the ocean, i love the sky in this, this painting was one that I figured out a new way to do the sky, it's one of the fun things of never having a lesson, you figure something out and are 'Wow, OK, i like that', I like the way that this sky is sort of a moving sky, but the house is tranquil, the house is settled and good, and if you go up north into Maine you see these fantastic screen doors, so I make up little screen doors for my houses, and this one with the little tulips on it, i really like this little painting, Life is Beautiful Down By The sea.
